An estate agent in Crouch End, North London, has been fined £400 for misleading consumers. Propertynet(UK)Ltd, in Topsfield Parade, was also ordered to pay £500 in costs after falsely stating it was a member of the National Association of Estate Agents. |

A statement on its website read: "To ensure quality of service we are a member of the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA)".

Actually, the agent’s membership had been cancelled for not paying its fees. A number of complaints had been received by Trading Standards about the quality of their service prompting their investigation.

The company was convicted at Haringey Magistrates court in a case brought by Haringey Council's trading standards officers.
