Stephen NationStephen Nation joins Sequence

Stephen Nation has been appointed Divisional Managing Director for Sequence Lettings. With 20 years experience in lettings Setphen has responsibility for all aspects of Sequence Lettings, reporting to Chief Executive David Plumtree.

“I am delighted to be heading up Sequence Lettings and recognise a great opportunity to build upon a strong and trusted brand,” says Stephen. “I pride myself on understanding the business from the bottom up and will be utilising all my expertise to enhance the performance of our lettings branches and support functions.” After starting as a letting agent in Kent, Stephen progressed to become an Area Manager and eventually Regional Director for the South of England. In 2002 he was appointed MD of Spicerhaart.

“Stephen has a deep understanding of what makes an excellent lettings business so we are delighted he has taken up the role as Divisional Managing Director,” says David Plumtree, “He will bring a clear vision of how to grow the lettings business and best practice for our branches and national support centres.”

David NewnesSenior Moves at Your Move

David Newnes, MD of Your Move, is appointed to the LSL Property Services board. His new role, as LSL Estate Agency MD will give him responsibility for the strategic direction of all estate agency brands under the LSL umbrella. David will relinquish his role to Gareth Samples, currently Sales Director covering the Midlands and North West area. Gareth has 20 years experience in estate agency and has played a pivotal role in Your Move’s development. James McAuley, previously Sales Director for London and the South East will take on a new role as LSL Business Services Director.

David commented, “I am delighted to join the LSL Board and to take a more strategic role in the development of estate agency services across the LSL Group. I’d like to wish Gareth and James every success in their new roles”.

Gareth added, “I’m delighted to accept this role and build on my past experiences and knowledge in the company and the industry.”

Martin & Co. has added four new staff to its Head Office team in Bournemouth. Martin & Co’s in-house recruitment team helped with the placements, taking its tally of staff recruited for to over 100 in the past 12 months.

Kevin Davidson-Hall and Gary Winter have joined the firm with Natasha Lear and James Leigh. Kevin will provide support for the London offices and will help expand operations in the Capital. Gary has joined as Sales Director and will be optimising enquiries through the website.
Natasha will be Client Liaison Manager, while James has been appointed as Marketing Assistant.

Dolores O’Reilly Encore for Dolores

Dolores O’Reilly has joined the team at Encore as Estate Manager, bringing 18 years’ experience in managing established and new developments – as well as financial and legal expertise. Dolores says, “I’m looking forward to working for an estate and block management company that genuinely cares about the way in which property is managed and how clients are treated.

“Encore has taken over some exciting new developments in East Anglia, some of which I’ll be managing. I feel passionate about my portfolio. It is important for lessees to feel they’re receiving value for money and a quality service.”

Richard YeoTDPG Appoints New CTO

The Digital Property Group has appointed Richard Yeo as its Group Chief Technology Officer. Yeo joins TDPG after a distinguished spell as CTO at Fish4 and most recently eCommera and easyGroup, the private investment vehicle of easyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou. Simon GordonNLA Appoints New Head Of External Relations

Simon Gordon, formerly Head of Communications at the National Landlords Association (NLA), has been appointed to the newly-created position of Head of External Relations.

David Salusbury, Chairman, NLA, commenting on Simon’s appointment, said, “This is an important new step for the NLA and is part of our continuing strategy of raising the Association’s profile and developing and deepening our network of links and relationships.”

Tom DerrettTVIA Boosts Property Expertise

The Video Inventory Agency (TVIA) has appointed a non-executive director, Tom Derrett. TVIA offers state-of-the-art video inventories designed to protect landlords’ assets. Derrett, 33, from Monmouthshire, has previously worked with tenants in social housing. Trained in law, Derrett’s services are well established: an adjudicator for a deposit protection scheme, he also runs ADR Solution.

TVIA’s Frazer Fearnhead, said, “Tom brings invaluable property experience and expertise to TVIA.” In his role as non-executive director, Derrett will manage TVIA’s deposit resolution service, which guarantees to handle and advise on deposit disputes, free of charge. Derrett will also contribute to our business strategy.

Jones Lang LaSalle has announced a number of new promotions in its Scottish offices. Dougie Wood, Alex Fraser, Alistair Reid and Ally Hogg have been promoted to Senior Surveyor. Gerry FitzjohnWider Role At TPO For Gerry Fitzjohn

Gerry Fitzjohn, National Sales Director for Countrywide until earlier this year, is channelling his energies into a wider role with The Property Ombudsman Scheme.
Fitzjohn, an “approved person” by the FSA will be vice-chairman of the operating company for TPO, assisting Chairman Bill McClintock.

McClintock notched up a half century in estate agency last autumn but with 36 years experience Fitzjohn is hardly a new boy. He started as a sales negotiator with Taylors in 1974 and progressed to join the board of Countrywide in 2000.

That year, Countrywide became members of the Ombudsman for Estate Agents scheme, as it then was, with Fitzjohn joining the OEA board.
“I am delighted to have been appointed vice-chairman of the TPO operating company,” he said. “I have always been an enthusiastic supporter of the principles and aims of TPO and I am keen to help extend the profile of the TPO and increase membership still further.”

Bill McClintock said that Gerry Fitzjohn’s experience would be invaluable. “Gerry has a great deal of energy and enthusiasm and his decade of inside knowledge will be of great assistance in helping promote the scheme and its aims. He is respected within and outside the industry.

My workload has grown substantially since I became chairman and Gerry will be a great support to me and will, I am sure, make a great contribution to raising standards in estate agency.”

Chris BrowneZoopla appointment has appointed Chris Browne in the role of Head of New Homes. With twenty years experience in estate agency and new homes, Chris was most recently a Sales Director at Smart New Homes.

Browne will be responsible for overseeing the continued growth of the New Homes channel and managing the New Homes sales team at Zoopla. He will also be developing and managing major client relationships as well as implementing innovative products and features.

Chris said, “I am extremely excited by the opportunity to build this key business area within Zoopla. We have one of the largest and fastest growing audiences in the UK and offer a compelling and innovative proposition for our advertisers to reach a unique audience.”

Davis Tate report new staff, past staff members returning to the company and internal promotions.

At Henley-on-Thames Clare Vernon joined as Lettings Manager having worked for two other estate agents for six years. Cathie French also joins the Henley Office as Sales and Lettings Negotiator.

Keri-Anne Wheatley comes to the Reading office as a Sales and Lettings Negotiator.

Jennifer King has worked across several branches and is now Sales Negotiator in Pangbourne. Jennifer replaces Hendrik Bossman, who has been with Davis Tate since 1999 and now joins the growing band of Davis Tate Personal Estate Agents, covering the Tilehurst area.

Daniel Ashton moves from the Shinfield office to become Senior Negotiator at Twyford.

Land Director Craig Robinson will continue to be based in Twyford, as the increase in general market activity is reflected in a number of exciting land deals and new sites.

Claire Tier returns to Davis Tate as Network Manager, while Senior Negotiator Michelle Argrave returns to the Shinfield Office, having spent the past two years in estate agency in Wokingham and Bracknell.

Fiona CatanachTop of the Crop for Bloom

The recently launched Bloom Academy for Estate and Letting agents has recruited a top-line Recruitment Consultant for their Birmingham Academy. Former Regional Director of AMR, Fiona Catanach, will be well-known to many agents in the Midlands.

“Fiona’s background in estate agency and agency recruitment, as well as her easy-going professional manner, make her perfect for the role. She is also superb at spotting new raw talent in our industry.

Nick TwiggChesterton Humberts Expands Investment Team

Chesterton Humberts has appointed Nick Twigg as associate director in its West End and National Investment team.

Nick has over 15 years’ experience in the investment market having previously worked for property consultancies Joiner Cummings and more recently BC Commercial.

Nick will work alongside Chesterton Humberts’ head of West End and National Investment Mark Holliday. Mark comments, “Nick brings with him a great deal of experience in the investment market, both nationally and with a focus on Central London.

He has built up key relationships over the years and will be an asset to the team.”

Nicola SpencerNew Letting & Marketing Manager for Dickins

Nicola Spencer, NAEA Scotland Secretary has joined Dickins, a specialist corporate, short lettings and holiday lettings agency in Edinburgh. The firm also deals extensively with lettings for the Edinburgh Festival. Previously with Spencers in Sheffield as a senior property valuer and office manager, Nicola is delighted with her new appointment,
