The View From The Top
It’s been a very challenging year for letting agents; shortage of
property to let, tenants struggling to afford what is available,
landlords wondering whether to sell. This session will give an overview
of the market we have now and the opportunities for improvement over the
next 12 months.

The Joy Of Belonging
Being part of a professional organisation has never been more
important, for protection, for your image, for your development. This
session discusses the real benefits of being a NALS licensed firm and
how membership of The Property Ombudsman underlines your integrity by
demonstrating that you belong to a redress scheme.
Chaired by Lord Best with Isobel Thomson (NALS) & Christopher
Hamer (TPO), Nicholas Cooper, Northwood and Chris Day, Spicerhaart
How To Be The Best
Standards, standards, standards, almost as clichéd a mantra as Location,
Location, Location, but without government regulation the only way you
can differentiate yourself from the chancers and the cowboys is to have
high standards and provide a truly professional service. This session
has guidelines and very bright ideas for setting yourself above the
rest.

Changes To Assured Shorthold Tenancy Rules
October 1st brings an increase in the rent levels for Assured Shorthold
Tenancies. Sounds simple but there are some pitfalls here as the
legislation was, er, loose, to say the least. We look at the issues that
could complicate your life and that of your landlords.

Are Your Ducks In A Row?
There’s no point hurtling into business, gaining instructions, issuing
tenancy agreements, banking money and employing staff if you don’t have
the essentials in place. Referencing, Client Money Protection,
Professional Indemnity and insurances for your own business premises –
as well as a range of policies to protect your landlords and tenants –
are vital to ensure your security. Let’s get that established!

The View From Westminster
The new Coalition Government has cancelled all sorts of legislative
plans from the last regime, but has it thrown the baby out with
bathwater? Is it really best to leave the industry to regulate itself?
Was it just a clean sweep move to reduce interference or will they
introduce legislation when it suits them to do so?

almost every level how are you going to maintain or increase business
levels? One way is by exploring the huge opportunities available through

The Way Ahead
Residential Lettings is fun isn’t it? The thrill of the chase to
gain new instructions, the satisfaction in finding the perfect tenant?
Property Management, well, that’s not always so enjoyable, but new
technologies mean that you can make your life easier and new outsourcing
services mean that you don’t have to ‘do’ management at all, but you
still reap the rewards. This is a whole new world of service.
